CAN ADULTS HAVE BRACES?

Absolutely! Its a common misconception that orthodontic treatment is only effective while teeth are still growing.

It's now easy for adults to experience a more attractive smile with straight teeth. And you no longer need to endure old-fashioned, unsubtle braces.

How do I know If I need braces?

Do you:

  • Feel unhappy about the way your teeth look?
  • Have crowded, misplaced, twisted, gappy or crooked teeth?
  • Have protruding teeth?
  • Have teeth on the upper and lower jaws that don’t meet properly?
  • Find it difficult to reach all the surfaces of your teeth when brushing?
  • Find chewing or biting difficult

The good news is that an experienced orthodontist can often treat these problems and make patients feel great about straighter, better-looking teeth.

BENEFITS OF ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

The benefits often go beyond the obvious physical changes of an improved bite and straighter teeth. With orthodontic treatment from Wytes London you can:

  • Wear subtle braces
  • Finish your treatment within months
  • Be treated by a skilled, experienced orthodontists

How do braces work?

Braces make teeth straighter by applying gentle force to the teeth and jaw.

With many types of fixed braces, orthodontists attach individual brackets - made of metal or clear ceramic material - to the teeth that are to be straightened.

The brackets, which are attached to the enamel of the teeth using a special adhesive, feature a slot for a straightening wire, or an arch wire”, to fit through.

One arch wire runs across the upper teeth and another across the lower teeth (although some patients have treatment on one of their arches only).

When the arch wire is placed into the bracket slots, the wire starts to very slowly move the teeth into their predetermined final position.

Braces and orthodontics

Different types of braces work in different ways to improve the look of the teeth by making them straighter, which also makes teeth easier to clean.

Braces also make the biting pressure more even around all of the teeth, which can lead to healthier teeth and gums.
